I have contacted the family again, and they are going to try to reactivate the website.

It was involuntary: after Eric's passing, the family cancelled the financial accounts, and in one of them there was a direct debit for the hosting of the website.

I hope it's not too late, because some hostings don't make it easy, especially if there is no backup.
