There is no point in emulating a H8 or SH7034 if we can't dump its ROM because it's read-protected.

Also die 500 werden wir sicher nicht erreichen - erstens würden wir niemals eine solche Menge neuer ROMs bekommen, und außerdem habe ich vorher sicher schon längst das Zeitliche gesegnet.

Na gut, wenn du unbedingt willst...
Ja, ich denke, dass es kaum noch fehlende Geräte gibt, die eingebunden werden könnten. Jetzt werden allenfalls noch Software-Versionen von bereits emulierten Rechnern kommen und da wird es auch nicht mehr so viele geben.

Aber es ist ja schon Wahnsinn, was du (zusammen mit hap und berger) da auf die Beine gestellt hast! Wenn ich mich an die Anfänge zurückerinnere: MM IV und MM V (Rebell 5,0?) nur mit Display und Tastatur (also quasi eine Mephisto Mobil-Emulation )
Ich war damals ja schon begeistert, aber ich hätte nie damit gerechnet, dass das Projekt diese Entwicklung nimmt!

A very interesting article, that shows what kind of work it means to get a chess computer running in MAME/MESS. Many thanks to berger, hap, Franz, Sandro and all the other hard-working helpers.

I have an idea for a few more “emulations”.

Many dos engines run with the command /auto232

In the early years of dos programming this auto232 player was established by chrilly donninger.

The idea was that 2 pcs could autotest 2 DOS chess programs by using a driver that sends the moves from PC 1 to PC 2 and vice versa.

If it would be possible to redirect those input/ output commands from com port to mess, it would be possible to access the engines via a normed interface under windows.

The next step would be that these programs could be run e.g. in mysticum, or on rasberry pie, or any other external board that uses the infra structures.

Dos boxes work on almost any operating system.

This way one could make the dos engines UCI compatible.
And load them e.g. in some chess computers that normally use UCI compatibility of windows engines to run them on chess computers.

This means GAVON, DGT Pi or certabo etc. Mysticum etc. Could run dos engines too.

Hab nen simplen ROM-Dumper für den 80c49 gebastelt (am Parallel Port eines uralt PCs) und den Fidelity Eldorado MCU entlötet und ausgelesen, die 2kBytes sind unterwegs zu hap..

Vielleicht ist das der 400ste?
