Yes, Sandro's original plugins will probably work with this new 'Chess-Emu', but there are 2 important disadvantages:
1) his plugins are 3 years old, so around 50 of the most recently emulated engines are missing,
2) and these old plugins don't include any code for position setup and multi move!

My plugins in CB-Emu/MessChess will definitely not work with this new Chess-Emu without extensive changes.

Well, I think it's not absolutely necessary to completely master the rules of backgammon for building such a layout - it would be enough if the user could simply move the pieces around the BG board.
Does the Saitek Backgammon board even have sensors?
For the sensorboard interface in MAME it would only be necessary to pick up a piece from one field and put it down again on any other field.
But since a BG board has a completely different layout, I can imagine that it would be quite some work to implement this in the sensorboard interface
(I also needed much time to do this for the Fidelity Backgammon Challlenger in CB-Emu ).
