from where did you get the 3MHz for ccompan2 (and 6Mhz for the Concord II)?
All sources I've found in the internet report 3.6MHz for ccompan2 (and 7.2MHz for Concord II)!?

They don't have an XTAL. And judging from sound pitch, it's less than the advertised 3.6 and 7.2
The CXG ones have an XTAL however.

Ok, in my version I've added all 4 frequencies (3/3.6/6/7.2) and set it to 3.6 by default, so everyone can choose whatever he wants.

Then again, the only videos I found are from the Tandy clones (Sean's one is a Tandy 1650 too).
Perhaps Tandy was forced to make them a bit weaker than SciSys ones. I'll add a TODO note in the driver for verifying clock speed.

I have tested chess computers Scisys Chess companion II and Star chess and there emulation on mame.
I use the Pb5 of "Europe Echecs"( checkmate in 4 moves) with level 8 on CC2 and level 16 (H) on Star Chess.



Scisys companion use a external clock without crystal,
Star Chess use a crystal at 7159090 Hz.

CC2 find checkmate in 15 mn 03 : 903 seconds.
Star Chess find it in 8 mn 13 : 493 seconds.

So MY real (not modified) Scisys Chess Companion II have a clock at 7159090*493/903 = 3908562.
It would be interesting to know if others CC2 lasts the same time.
The emulated Star Chess, with a defined 7150900 Hz crystal, take the same 8 mn 13 s to find the chekmate in 4.
