years ago the company I worked in as an IT guy had an automated tape library in the data center. It was an early system based on an industrial robot moving along a rail; the robot arm could fetch a tape cartridge in rotating storage cells, then move towards one of several tape units to load it into. The moving robot weighted in the order of magnitude ~200kg and moved rather fast, it could easily kill a man. A wire netting cage prevented hazards; opening the door would shut the robot immediately down.

So you think that these dangerous chess robots also belong behind bars?

I would rather say they need a security system; such as photoelectric cells around the pincers and the moving arm; to emergency stop any move if anything enters the security area.
