AW: Resurrection of Constellation 2Mhz after 17 years powered off
By the way, in my chessclub, I asked for allowance of (a) computer(s) to participate in the ClubChampionship 2011. This will be discussed on 03/09/2010. If no-one opposes (or a majority votes in favour) then we mainly have to discuss how strong the computer may be and the pace (fixed time / move or tournament level). As I organised yesterday my 2nd Humans - Computer Match after 2 years of absense, I can see that for the clubplayers its a challenge, surely now the members are dropping nearly everywhere in our country and you have to make quite some distances to play under tournament conditions / championships.
Mid 80's we had about 8.000 affiliated chessplayers Belgium , now hardly 4.000. This all makes it easier to introduce a computeropponent ! People tend to stay local to their town as much as possible (or they will eventually stop) , and seeing others even playing a game against the computer and talking on both subjects (chess & computers) regives them their joy of chess and keeps them going. To me this brings new enthousiasm to go to the Club at least for some of them. I have been asked now already to plan 2 Man against Machine matches on the Calendar. Thats a sign of appreciation ! I left up some balloons at the Ligue level, to enroll a computer , put on a team list, and play to avoid a forfeit game if one is missing an opponent. But to get this through is much more difficult, eventually someone will loose his title or end last because of an computer..... and my personal influence and recognition as in my ChessClub is much less. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Up till now played games: Conny 2Mhz --------------------------------------------- Conny Stufe 4 vs Stefan 0 - 2 Conny Stufe 6 vs Stefan 1 - 1 Conny Stufe 6 vs Fritz 1 0,5 - 1,5 Conny 2Mhz Stufe 7 ---------------------------------------------- Conny Stufe 7 vs Stefan 0 - 1 Conny Stufe 7 vs Mephisto Chess Explorer 0 - 2 Conny Stufe 7 vs Fritz 1 0,5 - 0,5 Fritz 1 ---------------------------------------------- Fritz 1 vs Conny Stufe 6 1,5 - 0,5 Fritz 1 vs Mephisto Explorer 1 - 1 Fritz 1 vs Stefan 1 - 0 Fritz 1 vs Conny Stufe 7 0,5 - 0,5 Mephisto Chess Explorer ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mephisto Chess Explorer vs Fritz 1 1 - 1 Mephisto Chess Explorer vs Constellation Stufe 7 2 - 0 Mephisto Chess Explorer vs Stefan 0,5 - 0,5 Partien zum nachspielen: [Event "Home Match 08/2010"] [Site "GINGELOM"] [Date "2010.08.15"] [Round "2"] [White "Fritz 1,486"] [Black "Mephisto, Explorer"] [Result "1-0"] [ECO "A22"] [WhiteElo "1941"] [BlackElo "1900"] [Annotator "Me,IBM_USER"] [PlyCount "115"] [TimeControl "240+2"] 1. c4 e5 2. AW: Resurrection of Constellation 2Mhz after 17 years powered off
Mephisto Explorer - Stefan Timmermans 1 - 0
An Benoni was played, but I do not know the theory of this line myself after white has played 3.g3. I took the wrong setup, as I usually do in this opening, and my King played early to f8. I could sustain and had the initiative on the Queens side. I suffered in the attack from the fact that my Rooks weren't connected, after whites move 25 Bh6 I was puzzled and played a wrong defensive moves not bringing any improvement, then 26 Qb2 !! was the beginning of the end.... ----------------------------------------------- Fritz 1 - Stefan Timmermans 1 - 0 (neu 23/08/2010 !!!!) A beautiful game, I had good play, long time an advantage, could have won the game, missed the chance, then ended up in an late Midgame to endgame, had 2 good chances to play for the draw, but then again , wanted do go for the audacious move and finally , made a bad call even after that ( 41 ... b5 was a draw, 41...g6 was a sure loss) and once again lost in a game where I had most of the time the initiative. But the style I lost , is typical the style I loose against Oldies. Never underestimate them !!!
