Karpov offers me a rather cold limp handshake and tells me my machines play inaccurate chess. He says that I ought to look at the superior Soviet Pioneer 2 chess system! ![]() Great Games Clive! You can also switch the underlying engine to get more various play. So CAISSA and my Ultimate C engine are also available to provide the MultiPV 10 moves the personalty style and plan logic system get to choose from. The classical C engine (178 kb) is somewhat weaker than Caissa or Stockfish, so the palette of moves becomes of a little less quality than when stockfish or Caissa provide these 10 alternatives for the personality code to choose from. That said, at depth 14 the play.pioneer2chess.com KARPOV Master level was beating Hiarcs 2400 emulation earlier today. Playing with a plan based chess search system against UCI limt strength modes in other non-plan based engines does not really make sense, since the UCI Limitstrength will at some point make occasional sub optimal moves or even blunders to compensate or to reach the desired reduced level of play. And a plan based system will always follow at least one but sometimes even several plans it can look up in the database with a lookup operation and fuzzy matching. In this case, the matchup vs these Giants in Computer Chess history, it is clear that he depth limited elo determination for this Karpov level is not really correct, but , what can i say we are all product testers now, it is impossible for me to test it all given the various possibilties. But the "purest " test , meaning no use of Stockfish or Caissa to guide the plan based system is to use the Ultimat Engine which is in house developed. It seems the classical search depth related elo determination does not work for this system . Since it will always play using the extracted knowledge from a world champions plans even at lower depth calculcation. It does not need to calculcate that much if it can use cheap table lookups to produce coherent play based on plans and reuse extracted knowledge. So these are the search depths per elo level for the Chessgate personalities: ELO Base Depth +10min +15min +30min 800 1 1 1 1 1000 1 1 1 1 1200 2 2 2 2 1400 3 3 3 3 1600 5 5 5 5 1800 7 7 7 7 2000 9 9 9 9 2100 10 11 12 13 2200 11 12 13 14 2400 14 15 16 17 2600 17 18 19 20 2700+ 20 20 20 20 Time bonus only kicks in at 2100+. Below 2100, depth is fixed regardless of time control. Playing around with these , switching the underlying engine , and of course switching the personalites will hopefully provide lots of fun ! Re: Die tollen Schachprogramme von Arne Bailliere
Thank you for the extra information on the Chess Gate personalities Arne.
I have to say I am also really enjoying playing the Pioneer Chess program. That Soviet look and feel really enhance the experience. For me it is certainly the most fun chess program to play. I always feel I have a chance against it! ![]() |

AW: Die tollen Schachprogramme von Arne Bailliere
Halo liebe Schachcomputerfreunde,
Pioneer 2 ist in eine etwas abgespeckte Version, jetzt online spielbar: https://play.pioneer2chess.com/ Kein Download, keine Registrierung. Browser reicht. PC, Tablet, Handy. Siehe Fotos. |

Okay, so it looks like both Stockfish and Caissa as overview engines are too much. So let us try the Ultimate engine.
