Yup, it's a prototype chess program in an MM IV module, similar to for example Nona in an MM II module.
It's not an MM V prototype, apparently more related to Polgar than MM V.

518B and 518C always found in Renaissance without EMI filter for compatibility with SPARC module. All Renaissance with built-in EMI module (and label on the bottom indicating compatibility with SPARC module), have program version 518D. Although it is not related (the SPARC module can work with any Renaissance rom version), and this detail does not affect MAME at all, it can give you a clue about the version of your rom without the need to open your Renaissance chessboard. ;-)

Hi,

da es nicht so schnell wieder eine neue Version geben wird, hab ich jetzt nur ein kleines CB-Emu_Update mit dieser Umschaltung zwischen dt. und engl. Figurenbezeichnungen bei einigen Mephistos hochgeladen, die im anderen Thread besprochen wurde.

Es enthält nur die geänderten Dateien (3 EXEs sowie 2 Plugins, die ich auch ändern mußte, damit eventuelle Unterverwandlungen auch mit den engl. Figurensymbolen funktionieren).
Möglich ist diese Sprachauswahl für die Figuren unter 'Options > Configuration > Piece Notation', und zwar für folgende Engines:
Mephisto I X, II und III (alle Versionen), sowie den MM I.

Kein wirklich notwendiges Feature, aber Schachcomputer-Fans sind ja experimentierfreudig und wollen immer alles haben und das auch noch sofort!

In CB-Emu und MessChess/MessExtra hat sich dadurch die Anzahl der Engines nicht geändert, weil ich diese alte ROM-Version als EAG V2 bezeichnet habe, und den bisherigen V2 nun als V3.
Die ROMs von V2/3/4 sind ja im Prinzip identisch (d.h. austauschbar), und 'hap' hat alle 3 ROMs in MAME (bei mir MessNew) als V4 set 1/2/3 implementiert - ich bevorzuge aber getrennte Versionsnummern.

Greetings. I've been playing a lot of games lately with the Fidelity Elite Avant Garde version 11 (against some DOS programs), and I can't make the FEAG11 speed up like I can many other programs. I use MessChess, and usually change the speed setting in Winboard for the engine to something like 400 or 800, but it is having no effect. I like to play on level A4 for the FEAG, which is an average of 30 seconds/move, and the speed up setting is having no effect, as it is still taking 30-90 seconds/move no matter which setting I choose.

The Elite Avant Garde Version 11 has an 68060-Prozessor with 72 MHz. There is no way to get it much more quickly. Maybe in the future with a more powerful prozessor you may have the power to get it on 150%, but I dont think there will be a chance for more speed in the near future

I think, your computer is just too slow for more speed with the V11. Switch on "Show fps" and it shows the actual speed of the emulation in percent (100% is the original speed)

My notebook (i7 Core Ultra) can speed up just to around 160%, no matter which maximum speed is set.

As Hartmut already explained the original EAG V11 uses a 68060 at 72MHz, but since MAME doesn't support this CPU yet, I used a 68040 and set the frequency already to 166MHz by default to get the real speed of a true V11 (you can see this setting in the menu 'Options > Configuration > CPU-Frequency'). So with this setting your PC is probably at the limit of its performance and any further increase in speed has no effect.
