Round 7 is here and we are now at the halfway point in this double round robin tournament! Mephisto has a strong showing so far, holding places 1-3 in the standings. In Round 7 there was only one game decided, the other 3 being draws. The Star Diamond beat the GK 2000, backmarker of the tourney so far, and so moved a half-point closer to the leader, Mephisto Berlin Pro. The Emerald and Sapphire came out of book after 24 moves of a Ruy! This was quite a surprise, especially since the Emerald has only 8500 or so book moves, but that is how the game played. The second half of the tournament is now underway. With 3 Mephistos at the top it seems the odds are strong against a Novag model winning. But not even the last place GK2000 has been eliminated yet. Let's get it on and check what mates.
