Well, this difference is easy to explain:
In these ancient pre-'hap' times
when I started with CB-Emu (which is still based even on MAME 0.175!), I didn't know anything about switching between languages (for voices) or cpu frequencies in the options or TAB menus, thus I've implemented such engines as different versions.
The same is true for the numerous Renaissance modules (Analyst/Maestro/Sparc) - it's quite complicated for a normal user to select these engines in the TAB menu, that's why I've added them as separate devices.
So in CB-Emu there are about 100 engines more listed.
