I wonder how and who decided that ed has the potential to beat rathsmann in the long run.

After dutch championships they could have decided different and saddle the horse for frans morsch, although it still was not better then mm2.

But they did the opposite.
Why ?

They trusted that ed would be superior and decided frans had to be behind ed.
Although the results in 1985 were opposite.
