I agree, but if we wanted to do a real test of computer v computer then playing with a fixed set of openings of just a few moves deep, e.g. 4, and each machine playing these opening as white and black this would give a clearer picture of their strengths. But it's more fun to see a variety of book openings
In my experience the Modern book can make the Genius programs lose very badly and can give the wrong impression of the program's ability.
