With Kc5, the king is able to remove the f7 pawn, then free the way for promotion, and the f file pawn is still on-time for queen promotion as it is much closer to the 8th rank. So the king is more active and gains a pawn that makes the game equal after both promotion (with Kc4, white is down a pawn after both promotions, which makes the difference in the endgame).

I see. So my estimation of the position was right in so far that the King on c5 is nearer to and quicker at the f7-pawn in the end race than on c4. Nothing cryptic about it. I just had to add things together.
