DGT Centaur surface question
 

Hello fellow Centaur owners.

My brand new Centaur has raised surfaces on many spots.

It is flexing at slight touch.

Can you please take a look at this video and tell me if it is normal or I have a defective unit.

Hi Murat,

mine is perfectly flat, absolutely free of such a surface issue.
I would consider it a flaw.

I have no way of knowing what I will be getting if I ask for an exchange. And I like the board itself, it works perfectly.

According to DGT support, this is the latest revision of the hardware. In case anyone is interested FW:5.7 SW:1.2
This issue could be part of latest manufacturing process.

I did examine it from the back. The gaps between the surface and the back plastic are visible. Little bit of non corrosive glue from behind can fix the flex problem.

Once the warranty is finished I will use Dirk's image and have lots of fun. Already got myself a Pi Zero2W.

Hallo Murat,

Ich habe bei meinem Brett ebenfalls auf die Oberfläche gedrückt. Das Brett gibt an keiner Stelle nach.

I just received a reply from DGT tech support.

They say every Centaur has a small amount of flex due to production requirements and it is not a defect.

I trust them. So I am keeping this computer.

I believe the latest boards are a third design.

I am attaching a picture to show 0.5-1mm gap between the top board and the bottom frame.

Es kommt eben darauf an, ob es dich stört oder nicht.

Bei meinem Super Constellation hatte sich schon ab Werk die Sensorfolie an einer Ecke etwas abgelöst, aber es hat mich nicht gestört und ich habe ihn seit bald 40 Jahren...:D

Hallo, Murat,

bei meinem Centaur ist das genauso wie bei deinem. Die Oberfläche des Spielbretts lässt sich in verschiedenen Bereichen etwa 0,5mm bis 1mm eindrücken. Auf der Rückseite des Centaur sind unter dem Spielbrett im durchsichtigen Kunststoff von DGT weiße Plättchen eingebaut, und dort lässt sich die Spielfläche nicht eindrücken. Die weißen Plättchen kann man auf den Fotos im Wiki-Artikel zum DGT Centaur gut erkennen.
Die Oberfläche des Spielfelds ist bei meinem Gerät absolut eben. Dass sie sich leicht eindrücken lässt, sieht für mich nicht nach einem Verarbeitungsfehler aus. Nur wenn sich die Spielfolie nach oben wölben würde, würde ich von einem Verarbeitungsfehler ausgehen.

I used fibreglass embedded aluminum foil. It has a nice texture and less slippery.
Pieces are basic made in Poland No.5. I filled around the weights with wood filler to make it perfectly flat.
