Bei romshero findet man das ROM für Atari 2600 Video Chess. (Weiß nicht ob das hier verlinkt werden darf) Herunterladen, die Datei in videochs.zip umbenennen und ins ROM-Verzeichnis von Mame verschieben.

Atari 2600 EMU wählen, Cartridge Video Chess wählen und es kann mit Pfeiltasten und LStrg los gehen. :-)

Chess on videogame consoles is not that common.
Here's another old one, on the Channel F (F8 CPU), seems like it's a German product:

Kein Problem, ist aber ebenso eine Mess-Emulation und könnte ggf. ebenso WB/UCI kompatibel gemacht werden. Mame ist nur der Linux-Name von Mess. Allerdings ist die Atari Konsole streng genommen natürlich kein Schachcomputer...

"MESS" war ein sub-project von MAME.

Around 5 years ago, they were separate projects.
MAME for the arcade games, MESS for the computers and consoles. But since then, MAME incorporated MESS. It is still called "MAME", although the acronym "Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator" has lost its meaning.

Regarding chess on game consoles, there's an interesting one not emulated yet:

It is similar to TASC Final Chess in the sense that the module has its own CPU that runs the chess program on a separate ROM. It looks like this extra ROM isn't dumped yet unfortunately.

Hallo Alex,
es ging mir darum, dass wir extra für Emulationen und Oldie Geschichten ein komplettes Unterforum eingerichtet haben, weil der Thread zum Projekt von Franz einfach zu unübersichtlich wurde.

Und da diese Geschichten hier nun wirklich nicht "in seinem Paket" sind, sollten sie in einem eigenen Thread besprochen werden ... dann können hier all jene, die es interessiert, sich darüber austauschen.

Hi, you can run this one using Handy emulator.

The Lynx console is powered by a 65C02 @4Mhz.

My current evaluation: 1736 computer Elo (slightly less than 1700 on FIDE scale)

I found the rom dump for Videopac C7010 and added it to MAME. It can be played but there are missing graphics.

Ich beschäftige mich gerade erstmal etwas näher mit dem Atari 2600 Video Chess von 1979. Das Ding spielt bisher alles aus dieser Zeit an die Wand. Kann es sein, dass der Atari mit entsprechender Programmkassette damals der stärkste "bezahlbare" Schachcomputer war? Und das obwohl die Konkurrenz auf schnellerer Hardware unterwegs war?

Hi Alexander,
I trust both Fidelity CC7 and Novag CC Super Sytem III (from 1979 as well) are slightly stronger.
But above all, I am pretty sure Applied Concept Sargon 2.5 (aka Boris 2.5), which appeared the same year, is much stronger than Atari Video Chess.
It is indeed stronger than Boris and Boris Diplomat, and slightly stronger than Fidelity CC10 (1978, though).
It is also stronger than some 1980 devices (Novag CC Chess Partner 2000 or CC Pocket Chess).
Not bad at all, so.
