I did some more testing and there was still a problem with starting a game from a different position when playing black in Shredder. So I have uploaded version 3.2.1 which I think should fix it.

In working out what was wrong I think I have also removed the need to lift and replace a piece after setting up the position so that should work better now too.

Ich habe diesen mit dem eOne unter Shredder getestet. Dabei ist mir folgendes aufgefallen:

das Spiel aus einer Stellung mit Schwarz am Zug funktioniert nur, wenn man das Brett mit der Springertaste intern gedreht hat (die linke LED ist an), also mit Schwarz von unten nach oben spielt. Will man jetzt - ohne das Brett wieder intern zu drehen (die linke LED ist immer noch an) eine Stellung mit Weiß am Zug spielen, dann funktioniert das nicht.

Das gleiche gilt umgekehrt genauso. Will man also aus einer Stellung mit Weiß am Zug spielen, dann darf das Brett nicht intern gedreht sein (die linke LED ist aus).

Dh., das Spiel aus einer Stellung ist jetzt zwar möglich, es muss aber immer das Brett intern entsprechend gedreht sein. Einfach mal in einer Stellung das Zugrecht ändern funktioniert nicht.

Mit dem aktuellen Treiber wird also mit der Springertaste bzw. mit dem korrespondierenden Dialog im Treiberfenster nicht nur die interne Spielrichtung sondern auch das Zugrecht festgelegt und das ist bei deaktivierter Springer-LED immer weiß bzw. bei aktivierter LED immer schwarz, was meines Erachtens ungünstig ist, denn ich muss dann immer die Stellung aus der anderen Sicht erneut aufbauen sobald ich mit der anderen Farbe weiterspielen möchte.

Ein großes Manko: es wird immer in eine Dame umgewandelt! Anders als bei der Zugausführung mit der Maus erfolgt keine Abfrage.

Das Treiberdialogfeld wird nicht immer angezeigt, wenn eine neue Position eingegeben oder bei der aktuellen lediglich das Zugrecht geändert wird. Dazu muss das Brett zunächst deaktiviert und dann wieder aktiviert werden.

Hin und wieder ist es vorgekommen, dass sich die Taste mit dem Springersymbol nicht mehr bedienen ließ. Dazu musste erst wieder die Grundstellung aufgebaut werden.

Nachtrag:

wenn die Engine aus einer Stellung heraus einen Bauern in einen Springer oder Läufer umwandelt, blinkt zwar das Zielfeld und es wird auch angezeigt, in welche Figur umgewandelt wurde. Weitere Züge sind danach aber nicht mehr möglich. Das Zielfeld blinkt unentwegt weiter, egal was man macht. Vermutlich verhält sich das auch bei der Umwandlung in eine Dame und einen Turm so. Dass die eigene Bauernumwandlung immer zu einer Dame führt hatte ich ja bereits angemerkt.

Die Unterverwandlung funktioniert auch in Lucas Chess einwandfrei, wie in Kapitel 6.4.3 der eOne-Anleitung beschrieben ist.

Das mag sein. Es gab schon einmal ein Problem unter Arena bei der Unterverwandlung mit dem ST55, das damit behoben werden konnte, dass im Konfigurationsfenster des "DGT"-Treibers die deutsche Notation mit der englischen ersetzt wurde. Bei Shredder funktioniert die Unterwandlung mit dem ST55 einwandfrei, mit dem eOne leider überhaupt nicht.

For a board with ChessLink built in to behave just like the other boards, it's driving me mad!!

Having said that I can't reproduce the problem with whose side to move it is when the board is rotated. I set up a rotated position with black to move and made some moves, then reset it (still rotated) with white, then reset it un-rotated with black to move then with white to move. I suspect the problem is that Shredder only send the piece positions to my driver, while LucasChess sends a full FEN. So on my screen when asked for a position you need to make sure the side to move indicator is set correctly, while for LucasChess it will automatically be set. The side to move is set on my screen using the button with a two-headed arrow.

I can't reproduce the underpromotion problem either. When you lift up the pawn to move, the three LEDs flash and you select which piece to underpromote to. If you press one it underpromotes OK and if you don't you get a queen. It seems to be working for me in Shredder. If the problem is in Arena let me know and I'll test that too but of course that takes longer as I can't set up positions there!

PS. I have added the German letters to the allowed promotion pieces to fix the problem with Arena! I couldn't do the "English-Russian" letters as my English windows wouldn't show me what they are. Right now, to be honest, I couldn't care less about supporting Russian characters.

As a test I found this position online and played it with both white and black:


Qxa7, Kxa7, bxc8=N

With the engine playing white when the pawn takes the rook the board will flash to show that the promotion is a knight, but note that you must still press the knight button on the board for the under promotion to work. So you lift the rook, lift the pawn, press the knight button and then place the knight on the board.

I realised one issue people might be running into when setting up test positions is that the GUIs send new positions to my driver and my driver tries to work out what move was made. That's how a normal game would progress. But if you are setting up new positions and the new one is almost identical to the old one, but with one piece moved for example, my driver might think that you have actually made a move rather than starting a new game again. Sometimes you need to make a few moves before restarting the position or edit it twice, adding and removing an extra pawn or something in between.

Danke für die Übersicht. Ich verstehe sie so, dass auf dem Mac Hiarcs der Weg der Wahl ist um den eOne zu nutzen. Verstehe ich es richtig, dass dafür macOS Monterey oder Big Sur Voraussetzung ist? Oder andersherum gefragt: Nutzt jemand es auch auf macOS Catalina erfolgreich?

Ich bin drauf und dran, Hiarcs zu kaufen, wüsste aber gerne, ob zuvor auch noch ein neuer Mac her muss... :zwinker:

Der Hiarcs HCE 14 läuft unter Bluetooth mit dem eOne unter OS Mojave und Catalina. Die Probleme gibt es erst ab Big Sur, wobei ich dazu wenig sagen kann.
OS Monterey hat vor kurzem jedenfalls nicht geklappt. Da gab es immer nach Aufbau der Bluetooth-Verbindung einen Absturz des Programms.
