When we entered the Corona virus lockdown I decided to learn something new. For a few years I dabbled in making my own chess fonts but struggled with the font editors. Anyway during the lockdown I had plenty of time on my hands I eventually found a font editor that I was able to understand and produce my own chess fonts. They are nothing special and I have used the same piece graphics to produce two slightly different fonts. It was really enjoyable learning a new skill and gave me hours of pleasure.

Besides making two fonts, I also made three new piece sets that can be used with Franz Huber's excellent CB-Emu chess computer emulation program.

Finally I have quicky put together a simple website where you can view the fonts and pieces and download them if you like. I hope that you will enjoy my designs which have given me many hours of pleasure and frustration.

Als wir die Corona-Virensperre betraten, beschloss ich, etwas Neues zu lernen. Einige Jahre lang habe ich versucht, meine eigenen Schachschriften zu erstellen, aber mit den Schrifteditoren zu kämpfen. Wie auch immer, während der Sperrung hatte ich viel Zeit zur Verfügung. Schließlich fand ich einen Schrifteditor, mit dem ich meine eigenen Schachschriftarten verstehen und produzieren konnte. Sie sind nichts Besonderes und ich habe die gleichen Stückgrafiken verwendet, um zwei leicht unterschiedliche Schriftarten zu erzeugen. Es hat wirklich Spaß gemacht, eine neue Fähigkeit zu erlernen und mir stundenlang Freude bereitet.

Neben zwei Schriftarten habe ich auch drei neue Stücksätze erstellt, die mit Franz Hubers ausgezeichnetem CB-Emu-Schachcomputer-Emulationsprogramm verwendet werden können.

Schließlich habe ich schnell eine einfache Website zusammengestellt, auf der Sie die Schriftarten und Teile anzeigen und herunterladen können, wenn Sie möchten. Ich hoffe, dass Sie meine Entwürfe genießen werden, die mir viele Stunden Freude und Frust bereitet haben.
