Hi Thorsten,
maybe getting the folder I use will be easier? It is Mess 2.37 with only SABA Videoplay integrated. Just run the .cmd file.
If you already have Mess installed, you can try retrieving only the SABA specifics from my folder...
There is also a help file schach.txt (but sorry, french language).
Warm regards,
Eric

It is now running but i have problems to input moves or change levels.
I can move the cursor e.g. and press enter. Then from square is set.
But i cannot set „to square“ and press enter.

Does it have only cursor movement or can i enter moves in notation ?
And how to change levels ?

I think i have it now. I must press shift-enter to get the „to square“ set.

Ok. Is level when the splash screen comes pressing a number 1-4 ??
And default is A ??

You must help me a little with operation of the thing.
I found no german manual in the internet so far.

Ok adrian gives tipps but they do not work on my system.

But maybe c1 to c1 enter for level C is accurate.

To play a move : cursor is a red U frame; move it to the source square, press Enter. The frame is now green color; move it to the target square, press Enter, it is back to red color. Now press space bar to complete the move (or back-arrow to cancel).

Shift-Enter looks indeed to be an alternative to validate the target square, instead of Enter then space bar. But it prevents canceling (back-arrow).

Level : it is selected thanks to the file (column) you select after entering time mode (T key).

Hitting 1 to 4 does not set the level, it sets the variety. There is just a short beep that can be hardly heard, as an acknowledgement.

I found out the english version of the help file is here, early in this very same thread. It should be helpful.
MfG,
Eric

Has anyone seen Chess 2.0 for Amiga. It was supposedly shareware based on a John Stanbeck program and created by Kaufman?

I played Chess 2.0 (running on WinUAE at 68060) against Radio Shack 1850 (which is around 1500 on the Wiki-Elo-List here), and Chess 2.0 defeated it 5.0-3.0 (I was using 30 seconds/move). So I think a rating of Chess 2.0 of 1500-1700 is reasonable. Games are on this thread: https://hiarcs.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13541
