AFAIK Ivan the Terrible has the same program as Excalibur Igor 711, is this correct ?
A few years later a "trimmed-down eunuch-version" of Igor (711-E2) was secretly released, which played about 500 elo weaker.
Is there such a thing also at Ivan the Terrible ?

Ich hoffe nur, daß ich das (bei meinem fortgeschrittenen Alter) nicht mehr miterlebe.

I expect the chess engine to be very similar between: Mirage, 1st and 2nd version of Ivan The Terrible, 1st version of Igor, Grandmaster.
Igor and Grandmaster have 1KB RAM, Ivan and Mirage have 2KB RAM, so maybe the latter 2 are a bit stronger? I don't know how the extra RAM is managed.

So yes, the 2nd version is weaker hardware.

There is no rerelease of Ivan The Terrible on a weaker CPU AFAIK. In fact, the 2nd H8 version of Ivan The Terrible may be even a bit stronger, since it's on a 12MHz H8 instead of 10MHz(20/2).

IMHO The Mirage is a bit weaker than Grandmaster and Igor, at least in two testpositions, please have a look here:

Hi Hans-Jürgen,

GM and Igor (I own both) habe a 12 MHz crystal - Mirage has only 10 MHz, but the same program.
Maybe they reduce the MHz a little bit because of probs with the mechanics.

Ok, then the increased CPU freq had more advantage than the double RAM size. Maybe the extra RAM was used for other tasks, not chess calculations.

Hi,

für den Yeno 416 XL gibt's bei Alain Zanchetta leider wieder nur das Handbuch auf Französisch.
Die Levels A1-B8 sind ja verständlich, aber für die Gruppen C1-D8, E1-F8, G1-G8 und H1-H8 wär es nett, wenn jemand ein kurze Beschreibung liefern könnte, was diese Stufen bedeuten.

Ich habe auf meinem Rechner zwei Seiten aus der deutschen Anleitung gefunden, die die Stufen beschreiben; leider nur bis F8...
