Hi,

OK, danke, ich hatte immer nur in CB-Emu im HauptVZ gesucht - in MessExtra sind die Einträge drin. Da muss ich mir wohl für diese Sonderfälle ein paar Verknüpfungen mehr setzen ;)

Hallo zusammen,
ich greife noch einmal das Thema Mephisto Junior auf. Auch mein "Ersatzteilspender" mit einer frühen Seriennummer 11.xxx hat 4,19 MHz ... :bigeyes:

Sollte es sein, dass ich mich geirrt habe und auch das Prospekt falsch ist? Ich meine, dass ein altes Teil 3,5 MHz hatte ... :gruebel:

Aber dieser ist nun mit der SN wirklich schon "alt" und aus einer frühen Serie ... also entweder haben sie das sehr früh umgestellt, was komisch wäre, da ich Mephi Briektts habe, die später gebaut wurden und noch mit 3,5 MHz laufen oder die liefen immer schneller und alle offiziellen Angaben waren falsch. Wäre aber schräg, den Junior schneller zu machen als den großen Bruder ...

Was mache ich falsch? Unter MessChess kommt keine Fehlermeldung.

hap, there seems to be a problem with the NVRAM of the Saitek Turbo King (ver. D).
All other machines of this group (tkinga, tkingb, stratos, stratosa) remember changed settings (e.g. the level) when you start them the next time, but tking forgets everything.
It also makes the LED check at every start, whereas all other engines do this only at the very first start (if no NVRAM is saved yet) - also a sign of a not correctly working NVRAM in tking.

Is this new? (In other words, did I accidentally break it when I added Simultano?)
Or, is it only when you exit MAME without pressing the Stop button first? If so, then the solution is simple: for the newer Saiteks with NVRAM, always press Stop to power-off before exiting. Also applies to RISC 2500 for example.

No, this problem already existed before.
Aah, that's the answer to this riddle - I didn't know that the Stop button has anything to do with the NVRAM!

So I've now made many tests with all these Saitek engines (with NVRAM), and actually only the newer Turbo King (ver. D) (tking) shows this problem, for all others it doesn't matter whether you use this Stop button before exiting or not (also the RISC 2500 doesn't need it, as you wrote).

But also for this Turbo King (ver. D) it's NOT necessary to use this 'Stop' EVERY time - it's enough that this button has been used only ONCE before closing, then this problem disappears (also for all following starts).
I guess that this Stop button (after used at least once) initializes any byte(s) in the NVRAM to make it 'valid', and only then the NVRAM is used or read correctly by tking in following starts.

Indeed a very confusing and inconsistent behaviour of some Saitek devices, which otherwise are very similar or almost identical.

einfache Antwort: gar nichts! :)

Wenn ich ein neues Gesamt(!)paket (also CB-Emu_Pro.zip) hochlade, dann sollte man dieses ohnehin komplett neu installieren/entpacken, und das alte CB-Emu-Verzeichnis vorher löschen (oder evt. umbenennen). Man kann die neue Version áber auch einfach über die alte drüberkopieren, wobei dann allerdings möglicherweise von der alten Version 'Dateileichen' übrig bleiben, falls sich irgendwelche Dateinamen geändert haben sollten (stört aber auch nicht).

Wenn es nur ein Update ist (dann heißt aber auch die ZIP-Datei entsprechend), dann einfach über die schon existierende Version drüberkopieren. Solche kleinen Updates sind aber eher selten (z.B. falls ich nur irgendein Plugin oder Artwork geändert habe).
