Yes, I know! But I heard, it quits suddenly calculating once it has reached the 30 seconds. That's not what I want. Finishing the calculation is important - otherwise this could lead to very weak moves.

I can't find the Saitek Maestro A in the package! Where is it located? (But I have the module on myself, but don't know which it is (A/B 4/6 MHz)!?

Yes, Tibono, a good idea. But first I should write a documentation/manual because the settings a weird and could provoke misunderstandings. Only I know how to tweak them (even sometimes not :-D)

Ja, Egbert, ich weiß! Ich kenne ja das Mephisto III Projekt sehr genau. Es hat taktische Lücken, kann aber so manch stärkerem Gegner in längeren Bedenkzeiten Probleme stellen ... kenn ich gut vom MM I Modul, das findet oft sagenhafte Züge!

Well, it can easily be found either running the base CB-Emu.exe program, or MessExtra.exe from the relevant sub-directory (the first exe just submits the second if the computer is handled there). Folder list should be toggled on (on the left of the GUI) and the Maestro A is listed in either of those folders: All systems, Chess_All, Chess_Saitek.
If you don't see it, most probably you are not using the expected package, or are using a not recent enough one. Check here for the "CB-Emu Pro" item and "CB-Emu" download link.

I had an older version.
Do you know how I can turn the sound down? The beeps are way too loud! I set the sound to -31dB in the properties but that had no effect at all.

Hm, bei mir klappt das schon. Du nimmst schon die "Properties" und nicht die "Properties for saitek...cpp"?

Ansonsten könntest du auch in der Emulation "File" -> "Show Tab Menue" -> "Slider Controls" verwenden. Da kannst du dann mit den Cursortasten die Lautstärke einstellen (mit Esc-Taste beenden)

Hatte die Properties des CB Emu und die des Computers verwendet ... ging nicht ... in einer älteren CB-EMU Version ging das noch ...

Aber Show Tab hat geholfen! Prima! Damit geht's und die Einstellung wird auch gemerkt.

Noch eine letzte Frage: wie tausche ich die Seiten? Z.B. beim Leonardo ... wenn er weiß hat, will er immer von oben nach unten ziehen. Muss ich dann wirklich alle Figuren manuell umsetzen?

Hm, ich denke, da wirst du wahrscheinlich MessChess verwenden müssen; bei Winboard als GUI kann man auf "Machine white" umstellen, dann werden beim Maestro die Seiten getauscht.

Bei CB-EMU und MessExtra wüsste ich nicht, wie das ginge...

Hallo Eskimo,

meine Methode, den Leonardo mit Weiß von unten spielen zu lassen, ist folgende:

1. Eröffnungszug ermitteln, indem man ihn von oben spielend den Zug berechnen lässt (Beispiel e7-e5, das entspricht d2-d4 von unten)
2. Mit New Game eine neue Partie beginnen, Leonardo hat zunächst Schwarz
3. Eröffnungszug (hier d2-d4) von unten selbst ausführen und Computergegenzug abwarten und ausführen
4. Computerzug zurücknehmen, d. h. rückwärts ausführen
5. Den eigenen Gegenzug mit Schwarz ausführen, ab hier zieht der Leonardo automatisch mit Weiß von unten.

With the MessExtra interface (namely S.BOARD) you can combine Ctrl key (from keyboard) + RESET push-button
This sets up the starting position with white pieces up (RESET without Ctrl key places the white pieces down).
Ctrl is also useful with push-sensitive emulated chessboards to move pieces without having the chess computer registering it. Of course it is useless with auto-sensory boards because the chess computer detects the move anyway.
