Hi,

wir haben ja in CB-Emu außer Schach auch einige andere Brettspiele (z.B. Dame, Reversi, Backgammon, Gomoku), aber eines fehlt mir noch: Mühle!

Ich habe das immer gerne gespielt, aber meine Suche nach so einem Mühle-spielenden Gerät im Internet war bisher vergeblich.
Gibt es so etwas wirklich nicht, oder kennt jemand doch so ein Gerät?

Could you be more specific, please? When I look up the translation of “Mühle,” there are many meanings, all very different from each other. From ‘mill’ to “milling machine.” :D

I think I remember a Handheld that included this game, but I can't find it. Maybe hap has seen it, since he has emulated many games for Handhelds, such as those with HMCS40 MCU. It may have a different name but be the same game.

Yep, that's exactly what I mean - I just didn't remember the English name (9-men-morris) anymore.
Ok, I'll now search for 'morris' in MAME instaed of 'mill' ... ;)

Nope, I don't know this game, or a handheld version of it. I wouldn't be surprised if one existed.

There are plenty of other strategy electronic tabletop games or boardgames in MAME (formerly MESS). Examples:

Well, I've found "Nine Men's Morris" in 'apple2_flop_orig.xml' in MAME, but that's a program for the Apple II, and of course I don't want to add a complete Apple-PC emulation for just this game.
In your list I only know "Master Mind" (never heard of any of the other ones) - I'll check if any of these games would be worth to add it to CB-Emu (and only if it's a 'standalone' device).

Are there any photos online of CXG Sphinx Legend that show the button panel? Or does someone here have a photo they can share?
Not the one on spacious mind's site, that picture is small, and not the mockup/prototype in the 1992 brochure. And not Legend II either.

edit: found one, and it has what I wanted to see: the position of the lines and their colors.

CXG Sphinx Legend ist emuliert, danke an Berger fur ROM dump.
It's the same ROM as Accolade/Concerto.

Although this was at a low playing level, is it allergic to finding a checkmate idea? :D I was trying to lose here, at move 20 (ply 40 in the undo counter) I only had a king and 4 pawns left.

A nice, and unusual, way to try out a chess game. I suppose it's better than my way, trying to survive as long as possible and always losing.

Hi,
da hat sich doch tatsächlich noch eine Engine hierher verirrt :D - vielen Dank an 'hap' und Berger!

Das Programm dieses CXG Sphinx Legend ist sehr ähnlich zu Krypton Regency und Krypton Challenge, die Bedienung ist identisch und auch das Regency-Plugin funktioniert für alle 3 Engines.

Übrigens, falls jemand den Tab 'Chess_VEB' vermisst: den gibt's nicht mehr - diese DDR-Geräte sind jetzt in den Tab 'Chess_Extra' gewandert (sind ja auch nicht so bekannt).

Hi,

hier ist noch ein kleines CB-Emu_Update mit ein paar kleinen, internen Ergänzungen -
es kann einfach in eine bereits bestehende Installation entpackt werden und ändert keine Einstellungen.

Erwähnenswert sind vor allem 3 Punkte:
1) Das MessChess-Plugin für den ChessMaster Diamond hat jetzt eine neue Engine-Option 'Module' bzgl. der Verwendung der 2 Zusatzmodule PM10 und PM11, und zwar mit folgenden 4 Auswahlmöglichkeiten: None/PM10 (Opening)/PM11 (Endgame)/Both.
Die ersten 3 Möglichkeiten dürften klar sein, interessant (und neu) ist die 4. Option 'Both':
Dabei wird am Anfang einer Partie das Eröffnungsmodul PM10 geladen, und wenn einige Züge später das Ende des Eröffnungsbuchs erreicht ist, dann schaltet das Plugin automatisch auf das Endspielmodul PM11 um - der Benutzer braucht dazu nichts tun. (Die Idee stammt übrigens von Micha)

2) In allen GUIs gibt's nun in der Spalte ganz links einen zusätzlichen Eintrag 'Programmer', mit dem man jetzt die Engines auch nach ihrem Programmauthor anzeigen und auswählen kann - ist meiner Meinung nach auch ganz praktisch. (Falls sich da irgendwelche Fehler eingeschlichen haben, dann bitte melden)

3) Und das neue 'Realistic Artwork' für den Novag Constellation Expert ist auch dabei.

Zu den Programmierern hab ich nur 2 kleine Vorschläge:

würde ich auf 'M.Taylor/D.Levy' ändern. Levy hat selbst nie was programmiert.

Beim ersten Novag Micro Chess fragt sich, ob Kittinger wirklich der Autor war:
(RAM sollte hier 128B haben).

(obwohl sich D.Levy sicher freuen würde, als deren Programmierer zu gelten ... :D)
Na ja, in der Wiki ist jedenfalls D.Kittinger angegeben, also gönnen wir ihm doch diese Engine. ;)
Übrigens steht dort auch 64B RAM, und auch im MAME-Treiber sind nur 64B RAM definiert, also bleib ich eher bei diesem Wert.
Möglicherweise zählen ja manche 64B internes RAM im F8 zusätzlich noch dazu, aber die RAM-Angaben sind ohnehin manchmal nicht so sicher (ebenso wie die MHz-Werte wegen 'extern vs. intern').

Novag Micro(1) has 4032 bytes ROM, 128 bytes RAM. Both MCU internal, even though MAME emulates the extra 64 bytes RAM externally.

The programmer is not known, probably not Kittinger.

Ja, man kann zwar eine andere Firma auswählen und dann erscheint auch deren Logo, aber die Liste bleibt auf CXG. :(

Da dürfte wohl irgendwas schiefgelaufen sein auf dieser Webseite, daß sie nicht mehr gepflegt wird glaube ich aber eher nicht.
Wenn jemand diese Manuals unbedingt braucht, dann am besten eine Meldung an Rimassoft machen (ich kann mich ja nicht um alles kümmern ;)).
