AW: Weakening an UCI engine (Windows, Python)
Hi,
I added a dedicated page for it on my usual website. Meanwhile, the software has been marginaly enhanced, thus the release now is 5.1 Changes are: - values from the ini file are forced to lowcase after reading these, hence no need to worry about the use of uppercase, if any. - in addition to 'depth' and 'nodes' for the limit-type, 'none' value can be used to disable the feature - new choice added to disable enforcing ponder no, if any useful to do that. Previously, ponder no was always forced. As the delay value could already be zeroed, now each feature can be used or disabled, letting any combination possible. As the pondering option is new, this requires adding a new line to the ini file. Using v5.1 with an unchanged v5 ini file would fail. Should you like to download v5.1 and re-use an existing v5 ini file, just add these lines at bottom of the ini file: Code:
# please set Ponder management option, enter either yes or no. No would let the GUI handle this option.MfG, Tibono |
AW: Weakening an UCI engine (Windows, Python)
Hi, v5.2 is available (download link from my above mentioned webpage has been updated).
Fix for some engines when disable_ponder is set to yes, but the engine, despite having the option ponder valued to false, nevertheless plays using a command 'bestmove xxxx ponder yyyy' (and indeed did not ponder). It caused unexpected behavior from the GUI (at least using Arena). Detected using an old Stockfish version (SF 9). In such a situation, 'ponder yyyy' part of the message is now removed if present. Sorry for any inconvenience. Grüße, Tibono |
