Nice game by Mephisto Chess Challenger 32Mhz (tuned)

Hi,

Sharing a nice game (15s/move) played by my Saitek Mephisto Chess Challenger 32Mhz (white) facing the emulated Mephisto Tournament Machine Portorose 68030 36Mhz (black).

The TM Portorose is 2273 Aktiv-Elo in the Wiki-Elo-Liste and 2270 in my private list; the tuned Chess Challenger (H8@32Mhz) deserves its name here, as it is currently evaluated 2132 in my own list (so 138 Elo less than the TM).

I particularly appreciate the spectacular Rook sacrifice at move 17. Rxh6! followed by a high pressure put on the naked King.
On move 69, the TM Portorose evaluates its position -16.2 and resigns (*AUFGB)

AW: Nice game by Mephisto Chess Challenger 32Mhz (tuned)

Impressive sacrifice by White in the 17th move! I will check this on my Atlanta tomorrow whether he is able to do this too. Until then - good night!

AW: Nice game by Mephisto Chess Challenger 32Mhz (tuned)

Since I have a free day today I can afford to play this game on my Atlanta early in the morning. Playing in the two-player mode the position before the 17th move of White is quickly reached. And behold! The Atlanta almost immediately also plays 17. Rxh6 as White, but declines the sacrifice as Black, which means, instead of taking the rook he would rather play 17. ... Nd7 with an evaluation of +2.5. So the Atlanta can well keep up with that famous tournament machine. Thank you for sending in this interesting game.

Regards!
