Hello,
in addition (too lazy to continue writing German... Deutsch ist schwer für mich) : - using the same trick in any other GUI should be doable (Hiarcs: check .bat files; Shredder: check .eng files) Once Mess window is launched, you can check the result (difference in boot sequence, click Media menu button to check - or, File menu, show tab menu, Image Information. - not using such a GUI? want to start either version without going thru any specifics? you can create in your usual chess programs folder direct links to .bat files containing: basic Sensor Chess: Code:
@echo off cd [your_path_to]MessExtra start MessExtra schess -cartridge "" Code:
@echo off cd [your_path_to]MessExtra start MessExtra schess -cartridge csss Cheers, Eric |

Good morning all,
I would like to warmly thank Hap, Fhub and all the contributors to this incredible and magnificent project as this “Mess Chess Emulator”! It is simply amazing to be able to play with machines that I dreamed of at the time and that I could not have ... A special mention also to the SchachComputer.info site which allows us to follow this exciting adventure among so many others! For years, I have only been a passive reader of this encyclopedic site dedicated to our passion for these electronic chess computers, I have no time to contribute, Alas ... However, I have two questions regarding 2 emulated machines: - 1 / I have two original Fidelity Sensory Champion (a German version and an English version), and their opening libraries are strictly identical but the version emulated in CB-Emu has many disparities in the openings, for example: 1/ e4-e6 2/ d4/d5 3/ Nc3-Bb4 4/ e5-b6 (CB emu does not know b6 but knows c5) 5/ a3-Bxc3+ 6/ bxc3 (end of the book of my two original Sensory Champion) ou encore: 1/ e4-e5 2/ Nf3-Nc6 3/ d4-exd4 4/ c3-dxc3 (CB emu does not know c3 but knows Cxd4) 5/ Bc4-Nf6 6/ Nc3-Bb4 (end of the book of my two original Sensory Champion) There are many more examples. While researching, I discovered that the book of the Sensory Champion of CB emu seems to correspond to the book of the Sensory Voice. My question: Have there been two successive different versions of the Fidelity Sensory Champion's book? - 2 / I don't have a Fidelity Sensory Elite (Alas ...) but by testing the emulated version, I realized that the opening library does not correspond to the original commercial model. By pushing my research a bit, I realize that his library seems to correspond to the Travenmude model. For example, on the Sicilian opening, after 1: e4-c5, the Travenmude model with his special book "World Championship 81" only played 2: c3. The emulated version also only plays 2: c3 also unlike the commercial version which could play 2: Nf3. So this emulated version would be the version of Travenmude? But it worked at 5 Mhz and not 4 Mhz… Thank you very much to the specialists for enlightening me on these two points. All the best to all! |

Maybe your CSC is a different version, the one in MAME had the 101-64019 VSC ROM for the opening book.
Yes, it was suspected that csce is the Travemunde version and not a simple overclocked pcb, thanks for confirming. |

Thanks for your response Hap,
Version 101-64109 of the CB-emu Sensory Champion is the same as the Sensory Voice. The book is therefore identical. I just dismantled one of my CSC, the roms of the program are identical to those of CB-emu except that which must correspond to the book: 101-1024A04. Maybe the first series of the CSC was delivered with the book of the sensory Voice then a new book (modified) appeared. For the Sensory Elite, if it is the version of travenmude in CB emu, it should therefore work at 5 MHz and not 4 MHz, correct? |

Hallo Franz,
