yes, in the original DosBox it's ok, but not in DosBox-X.
Eugen uses a DPMI overlay, and this is not working in DosBox-X.
But there are other (and more) old chess programs, which run in DosBox-X but not in DosBox, thus I've preferred to use this 'X' version.
One other advantage is, that DosBox-X is under continuous development - unfortunately they behave almost like the ChessBase programmers: for each fixed bug 2 new bugs are introduced!
E.g. since the last 3 or 4 versions the programs MChess 7 and 8 don't run anymore, so I've stopped updating my DosBox-X versions a few months ago.
