I tried it on MAME and did not notice anything weird with the clocks. It did not reset to 0:40 nor did it take extra long per move. The game lasted 77 moves and Ivan's final time on the clock was more than 3hr.
white was "me" (engine with fixed depth of 5 ply)
black was Ivan at level 92.
I observed the clock reset 2 times, first in an enginematch, and because I couldn't believe what I saw I played a game myself and took a close look on the clock. I ran the emulation with unlimited speed. I tried it yesterday once again, Ivan got an easy position with lots of exchanges, and the time usage was fine, and I he didn't make it to 1:40h. I will do some more tests when I have some time.
