AW: Conny 3.6 Mhz

Wiederum eine Partie mit vorgabe von die erste 7 Züge aus den Buch
von Johan Hellsten : "Play the Sicilian Kan" , Chapter 4

Stand Stefan (Fide 1839/N 1858) versus Conny 3.6 Mhz 3 - 2

1. e4 {[%emt 0:00:00]} c5 2. Nf3 e6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 a6 5.
Nc3 Qc7 6. Bd3 Nf6 7. O-O Bc5 {See Play the Sicilian Kan from IGM
Johan Hellsten,chapter 4} 8. Nb3 {
Less common is Be3, protecting the g1-a7 diagonal where 9.a4 & f4 are the main
lines} Be7 {The Main Line of the 7.Bc5 Modern Variation} 9. Qf3 b5 $5 {Diagram # The big
question in the Kan, what is the appropriate time to play b5 ?} 10. e5 {
In nearly all Sicilian games, if white manages to get the pawn on e5, and
maintain this one or the exchanged f-pawn equivalent , his chances on ar win are really
high. Thats why the move 9... b5 could have been inappropriate.} Bb7 11. Qe3 (
11. Qg3 Nh5 12. Qg4 g6 $11) (11. Qe2 Qc6 $6 12. f4 Nd5 $14) 11... Nd5 (11...

A nice double attack !} 12. Qg3 h5 13. f4 Nc6 $11) 12. Qg3 {Diagram # Now the
N left his place on f6 , there is no more Nh5 to circumvent the issue after
0-0 & Bh6, g6 would be forced with Bxf8 as a consequence. White is already
better, the e5 advance already causes some issues.} g6 {A first concession} 13.
Nxd5 {Better was 13. Ne4} (13. Ne4 Nb4 14. Nd6+ Bxd6 15. exd6 Qc6 16. Na5 Qd5
17. Nxb7 Qxb7 $16) 13... Bxd5 14. Rd1 {An anti d6 move} Nc6 (14... d6 $2 15.

{Double attack on b5, that can' t advance} 21. Nd4 Bc4 22. Bf3 Qb6 {Diagram # B
lack is again worse, no plan, just holding together. The only idea of this
move is to play d6 without being on the h2-b8 diagonal.} 23. b3 (23. c3 Nd5 (
23... Nd3 {fails unfortunately} 24. b3 Nxf4 25. bxc4 g5 26. Nxb5 $18) (23...

24. Be2 Bc6 25. Be3 Nd5 26. Nxb5 Nxe3 27. Qxe3 Qxe3 28. fxe3 $16) 24... Nxd5
25. Nf5 $5 {Very interesting move, easy to overlook too as I did. A typical
Conny/Superconny move. I like his approach to take the initiative in the game.
Positionally the game is very promising for white, now its about the right
time to go into the tactics, the black monarch is relatively speaking under
attack.} Bb4 $2 {I assumed I could afford this move, I could at any time play
Bf8, so I thought. The Conny demonstrates this was a mistake actually.} (25...
Bf8 26. Nh6+ Bxh6 27. Bxh6 Qc7 $14 {
Controls c4 otherwise the hold on f6 would be winning for white.}) (25... exf5
26. Rxd5 Ra8 $14 {is quite solid, why didn't I play this ?}) 26. Nh6+ Kg7 {
Diagram #} (26... Kh8 {Diagram #} 27. Bg5 Kg7 28. Qf3 $18) (26... Kf8 27. Qf3
$3 {This move is a killer !!! Be3 with double attack on Queen and f7 is deadly}
f5 (27... Qc6 28. Bg5 f5 29. Bxd8 (29. Nxf5 $6 {Doubtedly better then 29. Bxd8}
exf5 $4 (29... gxf5 30. Qg3 Kf7 $3 (30... Ra8 $4 31. Bh6+ Ke7 32. Qg5+ Kf7 33.

A terrible mistake as now black is one piece down and till faces this attack.}
(29... Qxd6 30. exd6 Ra8 31. Rd1 Bxh6 $18 {Was my only option}) 30. Qxg5 {
I abandonned, I'm thought a lesson.} 1-0
