AW: DGT Centaur - Der Thread

Hello Frank,

Thank you for explaining your opinion in so many reply's. I also read all the German posts, a bit harder, but worth the effort, though sometimes hard to follow for me.

I'm a professional photographer and I own a small professional photofinishing lab. Everybody is welcome, also amateur photographers. Many times a proud amateur came to me to have his fantastic picture enlarged. Many times I had to count to ten so that he also could leave proudly. When your'e a professional you look at things on a different level, often not explainable to amateurs, because they don't (can't) see what I see.

The same with cameras. Many cameras are great for amateurs, make great snapshots, but unfit for me. Small sensor, no changeable lenses, no RAW files.

Now, change the amateur photographer in me as a chess player, the amateur camera in the Centaur, and you in the professional photographer of chess.
You see shortcomings in the Centaur like I see them in the compact camera. You see shortcomings in the playing style like I see shortcomings in photos.

I'm as happy with my Centaur as the amateur with his photos. I hope that my level will increase so much that at some point I want a chess computer that can play in RAW.

I can fully understand your objections against the Centaur, but I also hope that you can understand that for now I'm perfectly happy with my Centaur Like you are maybe perfectly happy with the pictures of your camera or Phone?
I like to see things in perspective instead of absolute values.

Have a nice weekend.
Greetings,

Eric.
