When I tried to play a game, push the sensorfields, it registers some moves, but after a while the device does not respond anymore. A problem I already observed with a 2nd hand & shipped Alto and I finally decided to remove the Eproms for potential reselling as the problem lies with the sensorboard and/or connectivity with the printed circuit board.
I once was told to raise the voltage a little, if i wanted to use a DC-adaptor (like your universal adaptor) with an AC-device (like most of the older Novags)
I tried this with a Super Forte (raised the voltage from 9 to 12V DC) and it worked! (SF ran more stable and the contrast on the LCD was much better) Maybe you could try this too?
